Reena has been dedicated to developing housing projects for individuals with diverse needs, including autism and mental health challenges, since its founding in 1973. Our focus is on creating inclusive communities where residents can enjoy both a sense of belonging within their immediate surroundings and a connection to the broader community with Reena’s support. Through these development initiatives, Reena has played a key role in providing solutions to the deeply-affordable housing crisis faced by individuals with developmental disabilities.
Currently, Reena operates two such residences, the Sandy Keshen Reena Residence and the Lou Fruitman Reena Residence in Vaughan, with the third, the Frankfurt Family Reena Residence in Toronto, in development. Our ongoing projects aim to reduce the separation among tenants, staff, and volunteers, fostering an environment of unity and shared support. Reena also plays a leading role in the Intentional Community Consortium (ICC), along with partner organizations, advocating for specially designed housing solutions that promote independence.
