Rising to the Challenge
Over the past five years, Reena has experienced significant growth and successfully advanced the goals of the 2020–2025 Strategic Plan, Beyond 2020. This progress strengthened Reena’s mission to promote dignity, individuality, personal growth, and community inclusion for people with diverse abilities, grounded in Jewish values.
Reena Ready 2030: Rising to the Challenge sets the direction for the next five years.
The plan focuses on improving quality of life for people with disabilities and mental health needs by strengthening organizational and sector capacity, supporting caregivers and care providers, and building long-term sustainability. It prioritizes internal capacity, service excellence, and continued growth, positioning Reena as a strong partner and leader as the sector evolves, including through government funding reform under Journey to Belonging.

- Fee for service coaching established with 3 coaches, 36 participants, 35 placements

- 3 election debates hosted

GReena Established
- Community farm expanded to 25 Reena group homes, 2 intentional communities, 7 unique SIL locations, and 10 neighbourhood partners

- 38% increase of staff from 622 to 859
- 55.5% decrease in staff turnover from 13.5% to 6.04%

Health & Wellness
- Since 2019, Reena has worked alongside community organizations in York Region and Toronto to vaccinate the most vulnerable in the community
- 2 physician services introduced (psychiatric consultative services and family physician medical consultations)
- 236 medical consultation requests delivered (in 2024 and 2025), diverting Emergency Department use
- 2nd International Summit on Intellectual Disabilities and Dementia hosted with 34 international experts, and a Mental Health symposium hosted in 2023
- Member of 2 Ontario Health Teams (co-chair of the Western York Region OHT), strengthening health system integration

- Reena housing expansion of 112 units
- 118 units under construction
