Reena, in collaboration with CAMH, Lumenus and Surrey Place, proudly hosted the Dual Diagnosis Think Tank Day—an innovative forum dedicated to strengthening services and pathways for individuals living with both developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. This event brought together healthcare professionals, developmental service experts, and key stakeholders to share insights, spotlight best practices, and develop actionable strategies aimed at improving transitions from hospital care to supportive community living.
The Think Tank was designed to develop partnership around the unique needs of the Dual Diagnosis population, with an emphasis on enhancing collaboration across sectors. This initiative aligns with Reena’s mission to promote dignity, independence, and community inclusion for individuals with diverse abilities.
Through thoughtful discussions and strategic planning, the partnership aims to reduce the number of Alternate Level of Care (ALC) patients—those who no longer require hospital care but remain hospitalized due to the lack of appropriate housing options. By working together, Reena, CAMH, and Surrey Place are leading the charge to create more accessible, supportive environments where individuals can thrive.
