CATALIST: The Canadian Network for Third Age Learning is a bilingual network of 50 organizations across Canada that fosters and promotes third age learning through shared knowledge, expertise, research and resources. CATALIST serves as a contact point for collaboration about later life learning in Canada and has links to similar networks around the world.
Centre on Aging, University of Manitoba, was established on July 1, 1982, with a mandate to serve as a focal point for the conduct of research on aging. The Centre has developed a national and international reputation for research excellence. The experiences of aging individuals and the dynamics of an aging society are investigated using rigorous scientific standards. Community representatives contribute to all projects, and the Centre distributes its findings to administrators, policy makers, practitioners, and seniors to assist them in making decisions.
Saskatoon Council on Aging Inc., a non-profit voluntary organization which is dedicated to the promotion of dignity, health and independence of older adults, is operated by a voluntary board, the majority of whom are older adults.
SeniorNet is a national nonprofit American organization whose mission is to build a community of computer-using seniors. SeniorNet provides adults 55 and older with information and instruction about computer technologies so that they can use their new skills for their own benefit and to benefit society. Started as a research project at the University of San Francisco in 1986 by Dr. Mary Furlong, SeniorNet was incorporated in 1990 as an independent nonprofit organization.
The Seniors Computer Information Project (SCIP) is a highly acclaimed guide for retirees and older adults to Manitoba, Canada and world-wide information and services. It includes information supplied by local information providers and pointers to sites of interest to seniors on the World Wide Web. SCIP is a project of Creative Retirement Manitoba.
Third Age Centre, St. Thomas University Fredericton, New Brunswick is an autonomous, non-profit body associated with St. Thomas University, Fredericton, New Brunswick, with headquarters on the University campus, and predominantly serving the English language community of New Brunswick. The Third Age Centre was established at St. Thomas in 1990 under the auspices of the Chair in Gerontology.
FreeSpace Community Network is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing the residents of Wellington County the means to benefit from and take advantage of the opportunities offered by electronic information sharing technology. WFCN is a community based organization seeking to empower individuals by providing barrier-free internet and world wide web access, a community information network infrastructure, and the training and vision to make Wellington County the most information integrated area in the world.
